General Ledger Account Segmentation
One of the strengths of the Dynamics GP platform is the flexibility of General Ledger Account segmentation. BIO for Microsoft Dynamics GP maximizes the value of this flexibility. Upon installation BIO dynamically reads the GP setup files and creates the multiple account related dimensions and account groupings. These components can be used in any reporting cube.

Natural Account Dimension
This dimension contains the natural account segment only. BIO then takes advantage of the GP account category field to create preconfigured balance sheets and income statement roll-ups with financial report headings.

Full Account Dimension
This dimension includes the full General Ledger Account. Accounts are grouped by Acount Category

Individual Dimensions for Each Segment Defined
Each GL account segment creates an independent dimension with the name of that segment as defined in GP. The BIO application then enables the user to create multi-level user defined rollups within each segment.

Management Accounting Dimension
A new dimension will be established that includes all distinct combinations of segments excluding the natural account. These combinations are then organized into a multi-level rollup based on the order of the segments.

Integration of Financial Analysis and Customer/Vendor Accounting
BIO financial reporting cubes include customer and vendor dimensions. This enables a single truth that starts out with a financial report and provides the support for any account or group of accounts with customer and vendor balances. Drill through to transactional detail is also available.

Operational Analytics and Reporting
Operational Analytics provide a more granular analysis centered around customer, product, and employee activity. These analytics provide actionable knowledge by identifying trends, changes to trends, product mix analysis, life cycle metrics, retention metrics, company specific metrics and indices, budget analysis, and more. Operational analytics help identify potential issues in a near real time basis and enable the non-technical user to explorer cause and effect.

BIO provides 360-degree operational insight. BIO analysis cuts across the traditional Dynamics GP reporting boundaries that exist between Receivables Management, Payables Management, Sales Order Processing, Purchase Order Processing, and Inventory.

All transactional activity captured in the GP database is mapped to detailed activity types. Activity types are grouped according to business objects like customers, products, locations, and/or user roles such as product and customer managers.

Analytical Accounting
Analytical Accounting provides valuable functionality in Dynamics GP for capturing analytic information from within GP, however the ability to report and analyze this information from within Analytical Accounting is minimal.
