Delta Power Company, LLC has established itself as a leading privately owned U.S. independent power producer. Formed in 1997, Delta owns interests in and manages operating power projects across the U.S. with gross capacity of over 2,700 megawatts. In addition to managing these assets, the company actively develops and acquires power projects in various stages of development, construction, or operation. Delta Power attributes its success to the ability to maintain excellent relationships with customers, a nimble corporate environment, an entrepreneurial culture and a highly talented management team coupled with the best financial partners in the industry.

Business Needs:
With 150 companies under the Delta Power umbrella it is critical that financial data be accurate, timely and easily accessible to its financial staff. Delta Power chose the BIO (Business Information Optimization) product to help streamline financial reporting and seamlessly integrate data from its Solomon system. NexVue BIO software leverages Microsoft’s Business Intelligence platform to deliver self-service business interactive analytics. BIO delivers an easy-to-use and deploy solution that enables non-technical users to analyze, understand and act upon previously inaccessible operational and financial information derived from multiple software applications throughout and external to the enterprise. Before BIO, report writing, income statement and balance sheet preparation was often a cumbersome and slow process.

Up and Running in Two Days
The first order of business for their new BIO solution was to create levels and roll-ups for each business entity. This required that NexVue professional staff use their Solomon expertise to handle back-end issues. Within two days cubes were completed and running efficiently. And reporting can be based on consolidated groups or on just an entity. Training of key financial staff was accomplished in just a few days.

One exciting project soon to be put into motion is to provide Delta Power VPs, asset managers and eventually plant managers with the ability to view performance of each plant.
